Kate has been growing plants since she was very young. One of her earliest memories of her Dad was him coming home with a “snipit” of greens. Kate has no idea what actually happened to them and wonders where they went! However, the image sparked a fascination in her. Kate found herself wanting to play in the garden, watching the foliage change through the seasons. As a teenager, she decided she had enough of the lavender room her mother had decided on. It was the wild and crazy late sixties and Kate was off and running! Kate created her first “women cave”. It was replete with bright Indian prints, mobiles and incense. The transition wasn’t complete until the arrival of her first Boston Fern and assorted greenery. She was so proud and (much to the disapproval of her parents), spent a lot of her time there. They wondered what was going on in this “opium den” as they called it. She loved it and it was the greenery that really made it “pop”. Several years later when it was time to move out on her own, in record time, her Mom had cleared the room and it was returned to the lavender walls and flower bedspread. Her parents are long gone since and she misses them. Once in a while the memory of that first decorating experience comes to her mind and she laughs. Everything in her life has changed except.. her love of plants. They make her happy and make any place nicer. That’s why we see them everywhere! There is much more to tell you.. please stay tuned.
Love, Kate oxox
